NOSOTRAS provides holistic support services to pregnant Latina women to improve their probability of a healthy pregnancy. We help identify and eliminate barriers to reduce stress and anxiety as well as address the risk factors associated with the use/abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). Latinas are high risk for ATOD use due to stress, isolation, discrimination, poverty, fear of deportation, language, etc. Our support services empower our “moms to be” by equipping them with the tools they need to understand their surroundings. Our services include, interpretation, translation, transportation, access to health care services and other programs related to increasing healthy birth outcomes. Our prenatal sessions teaches our “moms to be” about prenatal care, nutrition, birth control, safe sleep, the harmful effect of ATOD use, etc., to improve their probability of a health pregnancy.
